In addition to the Maryland Visitor Center, there is the Barrier Island Visitor Center located on the Island near the Bridge crossing, as well as the Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center located on the Virginia side of Assateague Island. There is also the Fish and Wildlife Service at Toms Cove. The regulations and suggestions offered through these services will help to insure visitors of a wonderful and exciting visit to this unique barrier island, where daily elements perpetually create a changing landscape along the shoreline. Enjoy the beaches, salt marshes and forested areas or take advantage of the Ranger-led programs which include kayaking, and seasonal special programs.
