Biscayne National Park is in close proximity to Miami, Florida encompassing part of the mainland, Biscayne Bay and some barrier islands that are part of the Florida Keys. Established to protect and preserve the natural resources with its ancient coral reef, the Park is predominately water, sandy beaches and magnificent coral reef islands. The Park offers some of the best scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling, boating, island campgrounds, glass bottom boat cruises, and local landscape art at the Visitor Center with its popular Ranger-led Family Fun Fest. With four ecosystems, including coastal waters, mangrove forest, Keys and coral reef, there is a diversity of marine and land life to explore; with a Maritime Heritage underwater trail that includes a "Shipwreck Trail" with a rich maritime history. Here you will find the history of Native Americans, pirates, presidents, squatters on Stiltsville, turtles, sharks, manatees and a proliferation of marine life.
