Bryce Canyon National Park in southwestern Utah is comprised of a unique geology. The striking red, orange and white rock creates a surrealistic panorama of amphitheaters and hoodoos that astound the viewer. The irregularly shaped hoodoos spire into the air above, beside and around various shaped rocks to form a whole called an amphitheater. There are a greater number and density of hoodoos at Bryce Canyon than anywhere else in the world. These difficult to describe formations draw many thousands of photographers each year. Although the rock formations are the main attraction, the Park offers opportunities for hiking, camping, a spectacular scenic drive as well as some winter sports. Ranger-led programs include geology and an astronomy program. The lack of ambient light makes stargazing a year-round favorite, with a once a year Astronomy Festival. Don't overlook the wonderful ecosystem which provides habitats for the diverse flora and fauna that abounds here.
