Canaveral National Seashore located on a barrier island along the eastern coast of Florida was created to protect the pristine natural resources on the Atlantic Coast. Here you will find undeveloped beaches, dunes and a lagoon that provides a habitat for plants and animals. Outside activities of fishing, boating, swimming, surfing, hiking and camping, in addition to the Visitor Center Ranger-led programs and pontoon boat tours attract visitors year-round. Opportunities for dolphin, turtle sightings and bird watching are among some of the opportunities available. Day visitors can enjoy a six-mile self-guided scenic drive that goes through a refuge of pine flat woods and the marsh habitat that shelters diverse species of wildlife. Or stop at Seminole Rest, rich in Native American history; or the Eldora State House where you may be able to spot a manatee.
