Canyon De Chelly National Monument established in 1931 to preserve important geologic and historical features is located within the borders of the Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona. Visitors can take the North and the South Rim Drives to observe geologic wonders such as Spider Rock, a sandstone spire that rises 800 feet. The White House Ruin Trail is the only place that visitors are allowed without a Ranger-led or authorized guide which includes hiking, horseback riding and vehicle tours.
