Chaco Culture National Historical Park is the site of an ancient Puebloan community that served as the center of trade, culture and life for almost 400 hundred years. The Chacoan people that built the multi-storied buildings combined many elements of planning, including astrological alignments, added to the engineering skills that they undertook to create this amazing cultural civilization more than a thousand years ago. During the years that this center thrived a complex society evolved, the remnants of which can still be seen today. Researchers believe that this unbelievable complex may have been a gathering place for clans to meet and share their traditions and knowledge. The cessation of its significance is believed due to the migration of the clans to new areas.
