Crater Lake National Park located in southwestern Oregon was established in 1902. The lake is a caldera formed by the collapse of Mt. Mazama following a violent volcanic eruption and filled by precipitation from snow and rain that prevails in the Cascade Mountains. Peering into the clear blue waters, over 2,000 feet high with sheer cliffs surrounding the lake imparts the mystic majesty of nature. Hike down one of the trails to the lakeside where swimming and fishing from the shore or boat is allowed; enjoy the sighting of elk and other animals that habituate these environs. Or hazard the winters that average over 500 inches of snow with breathtaking winter views, dense forests covered in white. In any season Crater Lake Park provides an extraordinary experience.
