Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National Park established in 1929 is located in northwestern Wyoming; the expansion in 1950 of the adjacent valley floor was one the most notable acts of conservation fought in the 20th century. John D Rockefeller Jr spearheaded a decades long struggle to increase and maintain the preservation of the Teton Range and its surrounding habitat, including his purchase and subsequent donation of private public land that eventually was accepted into the National Park System. Today, the expansion of this glorious natural resource with jagged peaks towering above the sage-covered Jackson Hole valley creates the scenic splendor that is known worldwide. These majestic mountains with exposed crystalline rocks, glacial lakes, and astonishing wildlife offer a wide range of outdoor activities each year to millions of visitors.
