New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park

New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park was established in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana to preserve and to share the history and musical development of jazz, its African American cultural beginnings and their stories. A portion of the Louis Armstrong Memorial Park has been leased to the National Parks where the Jazz Complex is now located within a grouping of historic buildings. Jazz, which originated in New Orleans at the turn of the 20th century, began as a combination of improvisational blues, ragtime and gospel or spiritual music. The park's visitor center offers a wide variety of ranger-led educational programs, video documentaries, special programs and workshops ranging from lectures, art and sounds of jazz, in addition to a self-guided Jazz Walk of Fame with maps and audio available. Additionally there is a weekly concert series for your listening pleasure.
