Shenandoah National Park is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia offering spectacular views along the 105 miles of Skyline Drive that runs the length of the park from Front Royal to the Waynesboro - Charlottesville area. Whether visiting one of the 340 structures listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the large Wilderness Preservation Area, or hiking the Appalachian Trail which is just one of some 500 trails in the park, the vistas offered are astounding, from forest to waterfalls, nature at its best. There is a heavy concentration of black bears in the park in addition to numerous creatures, including poisonous snakes, hundreds of bird species and a large variety of plant life. An abundance of outdoor activities, campgrounds and lodges, in addition to several Visitor Centers documenting the people and places that once existed in the park are available.
