AT Map 001 (NOBO): Hiking the Appalachian Trail in the northbound direction begins at Springer Mountain. From Springer Mountain the trail winds through the Chattahoochee National Forest to Hightower Gap. There is a parking lot where Hightower Gap Road crosses the Appalachian Trail.
